UNION COUNTY – Beginning on Monday, Amtrak will replace deteriorating railroad ties on Track A, the eastbound local track, near Rahway and Linden stations. NJ Transit trains on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines may experience minor delays as a result of the work.
Track A will be taken out of service while the work is taking place (approximately 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. until 10 a.m. on weekdays.) Customers boarding or exiting trains headed to Newark and New York at Rahway and Linden stations will use the low-level platforms during these times at the direction of the train crew.
NJ Transit advises customers with disabilities:
- If traveling FROM Rahway or Linden to points east (e.g. Newark/New York), customers should take an outbound (westbound) train to Metropark and transfer to an eastbound train.
- If traveling TO Rahway or Linden from points west (e.g. Trenton), continue to Elizabeth for transfer to an outbound (westbound) train.
Normal platforms are expected to be available for use during peak periods.
In mid-February, Amtrak began repairs on Track B, the westbound local track.
