SAYREVILLE – Assemblyman John S. Wisniewski announced Friday that his district office has teamed with Middlesex County Food Organization and Outreach Distribution Services (MCFOODS) to become a permanent drop location for nonperishable food bank goods.
“As our economy continues to struggle back from recession, food banks continue to play an important role for individuals and families teetering on the brink,” said Wisniewski (D-Middlesex). “I would encourage all New Jerseyans to give what they can to help out those in need and, to help facilitate the giving process, I have made my district office a permanent part of the MCFOODS system.”
MCFOODS is Middlesex County’s emergency food distribution network that serves over 70 local food pantries and soup kitchens, as well as 25 additional agencies. The organization is facing an urgent demand for emergency food and is encouraging anyone who can to donate non-perishable items including: cereals, canned meats, tuna fish, peanut butter, rice, fruits, personal hygiene and baby supplies.
Individuals interested in donating to MCFOODS are encouraged to stop by Wisniewski’s district office, located at 132 Main Street, Suite A, Sayreville, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“Working together, we can help make sure that no one goes hungry,” said Wisniewski.
