SOUTH AMBOY — The City of South Amboy was given the go ahead Thursday to advertise for bids to construct the Radford Ferry Road Extension, which is the third phase of a four phase project to improve transportation options and infrastructure and bring ferry service back to this city.
“We will now be advertising under the requirements of the Brooks Act to complete Phase III of this project which is an extender road from the Main Street Bridge to the bay. The fourth and final phase will be the construction of the ferry terminal itself, which will bring an experienced operator to our city” said Mayor Fred A. Henry.
All phases of this project have been funded through a Transportation Enhancement Act (TEA-21) grant obtained by the city to create an intermodal transportation base. This same funding was utilized in the building of the South Amboy Train Station.
