Plainfield Men Arrested For 2010 Piscataway Killing

PISCATAWAY — Two Plainfield men have been arrested and charged with fatally shooting a 27-year-old Plainfield woman, who was found dead in Piscataway nearly a year ago, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Piscataway Police Chief Richard Ivone announced today.

Jose Gabino Chicas Ortiz, 20, and Mario Olivia, 24, were arrested earlier this week and charged with murder and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose in the death of Jessica Alfaro Montoya, 27.

Authorities believe that the defendants killed the woman, who was found dead on Feb. 28, 2010 on the property of Binsky & Snyder Service Inc., located on 11th Street in Piscataway.

Kaplan noted that members of the U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement, members of New York City Police Department Precinct 114 in Queens, N.Y. and police in Prince George’s County, Md., assisted in the arrest of the defendants.

Bail has been set in Middlesex County by Superior Court Judge Bradley Ferencz at $2 million for each of the defendants, who are expected to be extradited to New Jersey to face trial on the charges.

Ortiz was arrested on Feb. 22 after investigators found him outside an apartment building in Queens.

Olivia was arrested in Oxon Hill, Md. on Feb. 23, after investigators learned he was residing at a friend’s apartment.

Police began the nearly year-long investigation when an unidentified passerby saw the victim outside the heating and air conditioning company and called 911. An autopsy showed Montoya died from multiple gunshot wounds.
