Barbershop Quartet Contest This Weekend

RAHWAY — The Rahway Valley ‘Jerseyaires’ Barbershop Chorus will sponsor and host their 50th annual Novice Quartet Contest on Saturday evening, Feb. 26, at the Roosevelt Elementary School, 811 St. Georges Avenue and Stanton Street in Rahway at 7:30 p.m.

Up to 15 quartets will compete for the top spot in front of a panel of certified judges. Admission is free and organizers hope to have a large audience to cheer on the novice quartets.

Each quartet will sing two songs and the top three placing quartets are also awarded Contest Medals for their performance. The winning quartet will also be awarded the Annual Ben Ackermann Memorial Trophy, which is then passed along to each year’s subsequent winners.
