LINDEN – A 32-year-old Sayreville man was arrested last week and charged with shoplifting three cans of baby formula from a Linden supermarket, police said.

Ronald E. Marcinczyk, 32, was charged with shoplifting and contempt warrants out of New Brunswick, East Brunswick, Old Bridge and South River. Bail was set at $1,000.

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Feb. 16, loss prevention personnel from ShopRite on West Edgar Road notified police that they had an alleged shoplifter in custody. Store personnel said that they had observed a man in a wheel chair conceal the baby formula in his jacket while he was being pushed around the store by a woman. When a security officer approached the suspects as they exited the store, the woman ran off into the parking lot.

Marcinczyk, who was wearing casts for two broken ankles and a broken wrist, told officers that the female suspect was a prostitute from New Brunswick named Christie, police said.
