Woodbridge Woman’s Death Rule Homicide

WOODBRIDGE — Authorities are actively investigating the death of a township woman who was killed before her house caught fire, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Woodbridge Police Chief William Trenery announced today.

Balwinder Kaur, 44, of 492 Jansen Avenue in the Avenel section of Woodbridge, was physically attacked and was the victim of a homicide, the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded today.


Police are also investigating whether the fire at her home was intentionally set.

An investigation by Detective Shayne Bodnar of the Woodbridge Police Department and Investigator Michael Daniewicz of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is continuing.

The investigation began when a passerby saw flames coming from the victim’s home and called 911 on Feb. 14 at 4:48 p.m. Once inside the burning building, firefighters discovered the victim and brought her outside. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
