Spring Arts Guild Workshops Begin In March

RAHWAY—Registration is open now for spring art workshops at Arts Guild New Jersey.  These intensive one-day classes for adults offer opportunities for individuals to learn about a new medium or art form.

Encaustic Painting with Westfield artist Francesca Azzara, will be held on Saturday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The process involves working with molten beeswax and colored pigments as paint and applying it with brushes to a rigid surface or wood panel. This class is limited to six students. The workshop fee is $65 plus a $25 materials fee.

Figure Painting with David Shevlino, on Saturday, April 2, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., focuses on the technique of ‘Alla Prima’, direct wet-into-wet oil painting, and the various processes used to create a fresh, spontaneous response to subject matter while the paint is still wet. The workshop fee is $80 plus a $25 model fee.

Mountain by Diana Hsu Kung

Chinese Brush Painting with Diana Hsu Kung, on Saturday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., introduces students to the traditional Chinese style of painting with brush and ink, where the beauty of nature is both contemplated and celebrated. The workshop fee is $65. Students may bring their own tools and materials, or they may purchase supplies directly from the instructor. A complete kit of ink, brushes and rice paper is available for $35.
