Remembering The Past: A Request For More Information

by Diane Norek Harrison

PERTH AMBOY-After my Oct. 22, 2010 column with the mention of the Prudence Lodge #204, I received the following email from Jeffrey Zaffron:

“I came across a medallion that was given to my grandfather from this lodge. I know nothing of the history of it with the exception of the engraving and the date, December 15, 1926.

“His name was Alex S. Kummer and he was born in or around 1890. The medal is quite elaborate gold with diamond chips and a pearl in the center. It has a purple ribbon behind it.

“Love to know any more about my grandfather, his role with the lodge, etc. Thank you for any information you can provide.”

If anyone has anymore information on this past organization please let me know. Have any history or information from present or past organizations in Middlesex or Union counties? Please send for my column.

If you have your own memories or past material from the past in Middlesex or Union counties, email me at or send copies of your material to me c/o CMD Media, 1139 East Jersey St., Suite 503, Elizabeth NJ, 07201
