New ACT College Search App Released

IOWA CITY, IOWA—ACT, Inc., an educational leader in innovative solutions, has released a new application for iPhone® and iPod touch® users. The ACT College Search app is now available free on the App StoreSM.

This ACT app was created to assist students with their college search activities and highlights ACT’s continued commitment to student success. A set of filters allows students to narrow search results to the colleges and universities that meet their unique criteria. The ACT College Search app for iPhone and iPod draws upon information gathered directly from colleges and universities nationwide through ACT’s extensive annual survey of postsecondary institutions.

“We know that students live busy lives,” said Jon Whitmore, ACT’s chief executive officer. “This app is a way to meet them where they live—within the online mobile world. ACT’s mission is to help students achieve educational success, and this app provides information that students have asked for to assist them in their college search process.”

The ACT College Search app for iPhone and iPod provides students with valuable information by allowing them to filter colleges and universities by five main criteria: location, type of college, college size, admission requirements, and cost. Once students have entered their preferences on those criteria, the application returns results based on their choices. Users can add colleges to their favorites list as they move through the results. Each college or university page provides a map of the school’s location and a link to the college’s website. Other information provided includes degrees offered, cost, student demographics, admission requirements, average fist-year student ACT scores and housing options.
