NEWARK– After just two weeks, GoNewark HoopFest has already signed up more than 300 volunteers to staff events when the NCAA Tournament descends on Newark’s Prudential Center from March 23-27.
According to Mayor Cory A. Booker, the campaign, conducted with Gov. Chris Christie’s office, seeks upwards of 1,000 volunteers to make GoNewark HoopFest a world-class experience for hoop fans. This is the largest number of volunteers ever sought for an event at the Prudential Center – and perhaps Newark as a whole.
Roles including greeters at the various transportation hubs; street teams to direct visitors and distribute maps and guides; concierge teams to staff information tables at area hotels; and FanFest volunteers to work the outdoor games, contests and entertainment events to be held at Championship Plaza.
