LINDEN — The Gregorio Center at 330 Helen Street has programs available for Linden seniors to let them meet new people, make friends and have some fun.
Free senior line dancing classes are offered throughout the year. Learn the rumba, cha-cha and line dancing, get exercise and meet new friends. The next session will start on March 25 and go through June 10 on Friday mornings from 10-11 a.m. Stop in or call 1-908-474-8627 for more information.
Senior craft classes are also free for Linden seniors. They are held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. – noon at the Gregorio Center. Classes are also held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the 8th Ward Recreation Center on Bedle Place from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Call 1-908-474-8627 for more information.
Knitting and Crocheting for a Cause volunteers recently surpassed their goal of knitting 600 lap blankets for hospitals, veteran’s home, day care facilities and hospice centers. To join, all you need is a basic knowledge of knitting or crocheting and a set of knitting needles or a crochet hook. Meetings are held Tuesday mornings from 10 a.m. – noon at the Gregorio Recreation Center. Projects are distributed to charitable causes. For more information, call 1-908-474-8627.
Have lunch with your friends. The Gregorio Center is a Union County Nutrition Site offering lunches, Monday through Friday at noon for anyone 60 years of age and older. A $1.75 donation is suggested. Make your reservations by calling Nate at 1-908-474-8629.
Need Some Exercise? The Department of Public Property and Community Services offers fully equipped exercise rooms for Linden adult residents. There is a $10 yearly fee for adults, but the facilities are available for free for any resident over 50.
