Child Sex Assault Suspect Arrested In Texas

ELIZABETH — The United States Marshals Service arrested an Elizabeth man in Houston, Texas on Wednesday afternoon who is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow announced.

Roberto Villalta, 42, is charged with first degree aggravated sexual assault against a minor. Between May 2009 and December 2010, he allegedly assaulted the girl inside an apartment in Elizabeth, according to Romankow. Villalta fled the area after learning that the sexual assault had been reported by the victim, according to the prosecutor’s office.

He will be extradited to New Jersey where he faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted, according to authorities.
