Writing Contest Promotes Goodwill, Offers Chance To Win Globetrotters Tickets

STATE – Through a partnership with the New Jersey State Library and the IZOD Center, elementary school students have the opportunity to develop and execute a mission of goodwill with the Harlem Globetrotters, as the original “Ambassadors of Goodwill” prepare for two games at the IZOD Center on Feb. 19 and 21.

In 85 words or less (in honor of the Globetrotters’ 85th season), New Jersey students are encouraged to write essays that describe where an act of goodwill will take place, who will benefit and why they are choosing their initiative. Each school librarian will review the ideas and submit one essay on behalf of their school.

The NJ State Library will select two winning essays – one in North Jersey and one in South Jersey. A Globetrotter player will help execute their goodwill initiative and bring their renowned “C.H.E.E.R for Character” program to each winning school.

Principals, librarians, or teachers who are interested in participating in the contest, should call Gary Cooper at the NJ State Library at gcooper@njstatelib.org.

Tickets to see the Globetrotters at the IZOD Center on Feb. 19 and 21 are available at the IZOD Center Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster Charge By Phone at 1-800-745-3000 or ticketmaster.com.
