Scholarships Available For New Jersey High School Students

NEWARK – The North Jersey Minerva Corporation in partnership with the North Jersey Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. announces it is now accepting applications for its 49th Annual Scholarship Benefit Program.

For the past 48 years, North Jersey Alumnae Chapter has provided scholarships to deserving high school students from Northern New Jersey communities in Hudson, Union and Essex counties. In 2010, more than $30,000 in scholarships were distributed.


Scholarships are awarded based on financial need. Students are selected through a rigorous application process and must meet a number of criteria including academic requirements, college acceptance, and teacher/faculty recommendations.

Applications are available by contacting the guidance counselors at high schools in Hudson, Union and Essex counties. The deadline to receive all completed applications is Feb. 1. Scholarships will be formally presented during the 49th Annual Scholarship Benefit Luncheon held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Venetian in Garfield.
