Rahway Hosts Poet’s Circle Workshop

RAHWAY — If you currently write or have written poetry, would like to share your work, get and receive constructive feedback, this group is for you. The workshop focuses on prompts to motivate you to write new poems, editing previously written poems, and reading/performing your poems aloud. All levels are welcome.

The workshop is led by Deborah LaVeglia, director of PoetsWednesday (the longest running poetry series in New Jersey) which runs out of the Barron Arts Center in Woodbridge. She was part of the graduate Poetics Program at NYU and has performed at readings throughout New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. She has often worked in schools as a visiting poet and has had residencies in the Scotchwood school district of Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Cranford and Bound Brook School districts.

LaVeglia has been published in many poetry journals and anthologies including Tiferet, Lips, and Negative Capability and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2008. Her awards and honors include the Mayor’s Proclamation from the Township of Woodbridge, first place award for poetry in the Fanny Wood Poetry Competition, Recognition for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
