ENJOYING THE TRAIL…three long-time friends, Robin Straus, left, of Maplewood, Cathy McDonough, center, of West Orange, and Lisa Winkler of Summit took advantage of the recent snow storm to do some cross-country skiing in Union County’s Watchung Reservation. The three opted to tackle a trail along the northern edge of the 2,060-acre reservation, normally used as a bridle trail. But the recent snowfalls and today’s warm sun saw cross-country skiers and hikers with snowshoes hitting the trails.
HEAD FOR THE HILLS…was the order of the day with schools closed all over New Jersey. At Union County’s Echo Lake Park, which straddles Westfield and Mountainside, youngsters took to the popular hill on the eastern end of the park with anything that could slide on the freshly fallen snow.
