EDISON — Anuva Goel of Piscataway, a sixth grader at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in North Edison, has been named a winner in the National Geographic Dogeared Blogger Contest.
Goel, who participates in trivia games and other contests on the National Geographic webpage, decided to enter the competition by submitting her review of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain. The review was previously published by The Courier News newspaper. Goel ‘s entry had received finalist status on the National Geographic webpage.
Shortly, Goel will receive a package from National Geographic containing suggested books for her reading and blog reviews over a three-month period. Goel is also invited to read books of her own choosing. She is particularly fond of reviewing “Bridge to Terabithia” by Katherine Paterson, “Julie of the Wolves” by Jean Craighead George, and “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan.
While Goel has had garnered much success as a book reviewer for The Courier News’ Super Summer Reader series, as a Weekly Reader Student Reporter, and most recently in her new capacity as a blogger for National Geographic, she would like to pursue a career as a pediatrician. However, she would love to continue her interest and enthusiasm for literature as a hobby.
Anuva is the daughter of Nalini and Vikas Goel of Piscataway.
