MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University men’s basketball junior Tory Stapleton of Rahway was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
Stapleton averaged 18.5 points and nine rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Penmen while shooting .556 from the floor. He finished with a double-double (16 pts, 11 reb) in a win over C.W. Post on Thursday, then totaled a season-high 21 points on 10-16 shooting in a setback at Franklin Pierce on Sunday.
A 2006 graduate of Gill St. Bernard’s HS who also did a prep school season at Saint Thomas More (Oakdale, Conn.), Stapleton currently leads Southern New Hampshire (5-6) in both scoring (12.9 ppg) and rebounding (7.5). He has started all 11 games and reached double figures in scoring six times while registering three double-doubles. For his career, Stapleton has totaled 906 points and is 94 points shy of becoming the 43rd player in program history with 1,000 career points.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Adelphi University in a 7:30 Northeast-10 contest at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
