Basketball Classic To Raise Funds For Homeless

ELIZABETH – Six area high school basketball teams will play in the 17th annual Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless Basketball Classic on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Elizabeth High School.

The popular tournament is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. with a game St. Mary’s and Scotch Plains. St. Patrick’s and Newark Tech are scheduled to take the court at 6:45 p.m., with Elizabeth and Plainfield set to tip off at 8:15 p.m.


Tickets can be purchased at B.B. Miller, 282 North Broad Street, Elizabeth or at the door.

The Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless was formed in 1981 to advocate on behalf of homeless people. In addition, since 2003, the coalition has provided a “safe haven” winter shelter program. For more information, visit
