The stock market, as measured by the S&P500, rose nearly 50 percent from President Barack Obama’s inauguration to the close on Dec. 31, 2010 according to the Global Macro Monitor blog.

The author notes, “Joe the Plumber’s pension is in much better shape today than it was in November 2008!”

The market only experienced a similar performance during the first two years of President Dwight Eisenhower’s term. It fell 34 percent during President George W. Bush’s first two years in office, though it rose 15 percent in the first two years of his father’s term.
