Police Investigate Linden Convenience Store Burglaries

LINDEN — Two Linden convenience stores were burglarized Wednesday morning, police said.

The T&G Food Store, 900 W. St. George Avenue. reported that at 4:47 a.m. someone smashed the front door to their business to gain entry. The thieves stole an ATM machine from the business, according to the owner.

Several minutes later, burglars smashed the side door to the Convenience Corner, 857 N. Stiles Street. Police said that it appeared that the thieves also attempted to steal the ATM machine, but were thwarted because it was bolted to the floor. The owner reported that the cash register was stolen along with several cartons of cigarettes and an undetermined amount of cash.

Due to the time span and proximity of the stores to one another, police believe that the burglaries are connected. Detectives are reviewing surveillance video to develop leads. Authorities are asking anyone with information or who may have seen anything suspicious in the vicinity of the stores to contact the Linden Police Detective Bureau at 1-908-474-8537 or email crimetips@police.lindenes-nj.org.
