NEWARK–The American Heart Association has announced that Diana Jordan, a nationally renowned healthcare humorist, comedian and author, will present an inspirational and entertaining keynote address at the second annual Northern New Jersey Go Red For Women Luncheon on Friday, Feb. 11, at the Prudential Center in Newark.
Inspired by her own mother’s battle with heart disease, Jordan discovered both the emotional and physical benefits of laughing. Incorporating the importance of making right choices and building heart- healthy habits, Jordan discusses laughter as the best medicine.
Cardiovascular disease claims nearly 433,000 women each year—including an estimated 13,000 New Jersey women. That means that about 1 in 3 women lose their life to cardiovascular disease each year. The American Heart Association is urging all women to make it their mission to stop heart disease and stroke in women in our lifetime by making small choices in their everyday lives that can lead to life-changing health benefits.
The American Heart Association’s Northern NJ Go Red For Women Luncheon, locally sponsored by Novartis, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ and St. Barnabas Healthcare System, is an empowering event which supports the national Go Red For Women movement. This movement, nationally sponsored by Macy’s and Merck, urges women to take charge of their heart health and reduce their risk of developing this largely preventable disease.
Chaired by Dr. Marjorie Gatlin, VP and Head Primary Care Medical Unit US Medical & DRA at Novartis, the event focuses around the national Go Red theme, “Make It Your Mission To Beat Heart Disease and Stroke in Women.” Event highlights include two educational breakout sessions that will provide manageable tools and resources that any woman can follow to take charge of her health, plus networking, a heart-healthy lunch and the keynote address by Diana Jordan.
Jordan has been seen on Oprah, featured on HBO and wrote the best-selling book “A Wife’s Little Instruction Book: Your Survival Guide to Marriage Without Bloodshed!” Nominated by the American Comedy Awards in as one of the Top Five Female Comedians in the Country, Jordan has noted that her greatest desire is “to heal the world one laugh at a time!”
