PLAINFIELD — On your mark! The American Red Cross Treadmill 10k will raise funds and awareness for disaster relief. During one week in January, participants will travel 10 kilometers by any means possible — running, biking and even swimming the distance.
“We are so excited to have the community support disaster relief by going the distance with our Treadmill 10k,” said Tri-County American Red Cross Executive Director Nathan Rudy. “Every step takes us closer to meeting the needs of people affected by disaster, down the street, across the country and around the world.”
In partnership with the Jersey Gardens Mall in Elizabeth, the Tri-County American Red Cross will be hosting a 5k walk on Jan. 23 to kick off the Treadmill 10k. Individuals, teams and volunteers are encouraged to attend and go the distance for disaster relief.
Starting Jan. 22, local gyms and athletic centers will be hosting the Red Cross Treadmill 10k. Participants have until Jan. 29 to travel 10 kilometers. All funds raised will go towards local disaster relief.
