EDISON – Are you tired of running on the same old neighborhood roads and dealing with traffic and bad drivers? Join off-road runners for an unusual training run on Saturday, Jan. 8.
Take part in the Freezing Cold Hash Run and see the swamps and wooded areas saved from development. The Rumson Hash House Harriers return to the woods and marsh of Edison for the annual non-competitive event.
Hashing follows an off-road course laid out in baking flour. If you like trail running without the competition of a formal race, this could be a fun switch for you. The complex course traverses woods, grass, swamp and marsh. Participants should wear old running shoes.
Runners must be over 21 to participate. The fee is $12.69 if you pre-register, and it includes a t-shirt and open bar from 7:30-11:30 a.m. On the day of the event, the fee to run is $17. Runners are also asked to bring a can of food to donate to the St. James Food Bank.
After the run, there will be a social at the Green Derby Bar. There is a separate $5 fee, but women ages 21-69 will receive free beer.
