CLARK – Councilman Frank Mazzarella was elected president of Clark’s Township Council and Councilwoman Sheila Whiting was elected vice president during Saturday’s annual New Year’s Day reorganization meeting.
State Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D-Union) swore in Mazzarella, Patrick O’Connor, Rich Kazanowski and Brian Toal to new terms representing Clark’s four wards. Kazanowski is the lone Democrat on the otherwise Republican Council.
O’Connor, Angel Albanese and Mazzarella were named to the Council’s Finance Committee. O’Connor, Mazzarella and Toal were named to the Legislative Committee. Both will be chaired by O’Connor. O’Connor, Albanese and Whiting were named to the Parks and Recreation Committee, chaired by Whiting. Mazzarella, Kazanowski and Toal were named to the Public Works Committee, chaired by Mazzarella. Alvin Barr, Kazanowski and Mazzarella were named to the Public Safety Committee, chaired by Barr.
Albanese was named the Council Liaison to the Board of Education, Barr is the liaison to the Fire Department and Mazzarella is the liaison to the police department.
Cynthia Seng was appointed to a five year term on the Library Board of Trustees and Albanese was appointed to a one-year term as the Mayor’s Alternate.
Kevin Koch, John Zamboni, James Zizza, Mayor Sal Bonaccorso, John Laezza and Mazzarella were appointed to terms on the Planning Board, while Joseph Pubchara was named an alternate.
Rev. Robert G. McBride, pastor of St. John the Apostle Church, delivered the invocation and Anthony Bogash, Christian Festa, Matt Kowalenko and Bobby Prussack of Clark Cub Scout Pack 145 served as the color guard for the Pledge of Allegiance.
