Rahway Middle School Held Winter Concert

RAHWAY — The Rahway Middle School Instrumental Music Program held its annual Winter Concert on Thursday, Dec. 9.  The band, comprised of over 200 students, is under the direction of Amara VanWyk, Meg Spatz, and Dr. Arvin Gopal with support from Nicholas Ellis and Steve Plenarski.

The night began with the sixth grade Concert Band playing four selections including Ancient Carol which featured the low brass and low reeds sections.  This band was followed by the seventh and eighth grade Symphonic Band who performed three selections including Minka’s Sleigh Ride.  Next, the String Orchestra composed of sixth and seventh grade band members pleased the audience with three selections including A Chanukah Festival. The night ended with the Wind Ensemble, a select group of seventh and eighth grade students who played four selections including Bobsled Run which featured the percussion section.
