St. Peter’s Church Presents Christmas Carol Service

PERTH AMBOY – St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will present its 35th annual service of nine lessons and carols on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 10:30 a.m. Begun by music director R. Douglas Sheldon in 1976, the service has become a local holiday tradition and presents some of the best music of the Christmas season.

This year’s program features 13 pieces of music written by Russian, Spanish, German, French, English and American composers. Popular titles include Ave Maria and Carol of the Bells. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Choir will be accompanied by organist Jon Tilliyan, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.


Associate Conductor Winston Hughes, former supervisor of music and art in the Edison school system, will also take part in the program. Joining the choir as a guest conductor is Jeff Smith, a recent graduate of the Mason Gross School of Arts.
