ELIZABETH – The Postal Service expects to handle 15.8 billion mail pieces during the holiday season from Friday, Nov. 26 through Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010 – Christmas Day. Elizabeth Postmaster Dennis Allocco wants to remind last-minute mailers of the recommended mail-by dates to get their cards and gifts delivered by Christmas Day.
Allocco advises, “Holiday shoppers should get their First Class Mail to us by Dec. 20 and Priority Mail by Dec. 21 to ensure delivery before Christmas Day. For those last-minute shoppers, we can accept Express Mail up to Wednesday, Dec. 22.”
“We certainly understand the hustle and bustle of the holiday season,” says the Elizabeth postmaster. “You can free up some time and save money by taking advantage of our online services and the ‘freebies’ we offer.”
Allocco explains free eco-friendly boxes and envelopes for Priority Mail and Express Mail are available at the Elizabeth Post Office or can be ordered online at the Postal Service’s USPS.com website.
“Shoppers can actually do all of their holiday shipping at USPS.com,” emphasizes Allocco. “You can pay postage, print mailing labels, and get price savings on Priority and Express Mail when you ship online with our Click N Ship service.”
“And when you get your packages all ready to ship; you can skip the trip to the Post Office by arranging for free package pickup online at USPS.com,” adds Allocco. “Our USPS.com website is like a virtual Post Office at your fingertips,” concludes the Elizabeth postmaster.
