Carteret To Hold Holiday Festival

CARTERET – The borough will welcome the holiday season next weekend with a tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 10 and a holiday festival from 5-9 p.m. on Dec. 10 and 11 at Carteret Park.

The tree lighting ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m., but there will be live holiday music from 5:30-7 p.m. Santa will arrive after the tree is lit. Bring your camera to take pictures with Santa, and enjoy cocoa, cider, cookies and roasted chestnuts at the holiday festival. There will be horse and buggy rides, as well as a carousel and kiddy rides.

During the festival on Dec. 10, the borough will be hosting its Christmas house decorating contest. You can download an entry application at or pick one up from the Mayor’s Office. Completed applications must be returned by Dec. 8.

Festival-goers can drop off non-perishable food items to donate to local food pantries.
