Nov. 23 at 4:46 p.m. – Linden Police detectives arrested Elizabeth resident Juan M. Perez, 56, and charged him with second degree theft, fourth degree theft, and third degree receiving stolen property. Perez is accused of stealing a Verifone credit card swiping machine from the Linden Shop-Rite in May and using the store code password to defraud Shop-Rite of between $75,000-$80,000 over the next five months. He was taken to Union County Jail and bail was set at $180,000. The U.S. Secret Service is assisting with the investigation.

Nov. 28 at 10:41 p.m. – Officers Javier Perez and Rick Bachmann arrested a 17-year-old Linden boy and charged him with possession and distribution of heroin, distribution within 500 feet of Charles Street Park, and two vehicle summons after stopping him for traffic violations at Chandler Avenue and Union Street. He was remanded to the Juvenile Detention Facility.
