As the Superintendent of Schools in Clark, I wanted to express my gratitude and appreciation to our 22nd Legislative District Assemblywoman Linda Stender and Assemblyman Jerry Green for their attendance and support of various school functions over the first two months of the school year here in District.

Being new to the community, I have been greatly impressed with both legislators’ dedication and commitment to our public schools. Assemblyman Green was the keynote speaker at our Superintendent’s Convocation on the opening day of school. In his address, he outlined his very progressive vision and support for public education. Assemblyman Green’s positive comments were very uplifting to all staff, teachers and administrators in attendance; it was an ideal way to kick off the start of a new school year.

Assemblywoman Stender very graciously accepted an invitation to address our fourth and fifth grade students at Frank K. Hehnly School as part of the Legislators’ Back to School Initiative. Mrs. Stender captivated her young audience of nine, ten and eleven year olds with information about how government works, how a bill becomes a law, the value of a democracy and the responsibility of citizens in becoming active in government. The Assemblywoman then fielded numerous thought-provoking questions from her focused and engaged audience.

This past month both Assemblyman Green and Assemblywoman Stender took time from their busy schedules to attend our Realtors’ Day Luncheon at Arthur L. Johnson High School. Each addressed the assemblage of realtors and impressed all those in attendance with their knowledge of both the Clark schools and community; their knowledge of real estate developments in both Clark and the State of New Jersey; and their support of both the municipality and schools.

We are indeed fortunate to have such supportive, committed and hands-on legislators representing the 22nd Legislative District as Assemblyman Green and Assemblywoman Stender. As a school district we certainly value their appreciation, vision and support of our educational initiatives; it’s gratifying to know we have such insightful and dedicated legislators representing us in Trenton.
