Police Arrest Suspect In Last Week’s Plainfield Murder

PLAINFIELD — On Wednesday, members of the Union County Homicide Task Force arrested an 18-year-old man and charged him with last week’s shooting death of a Plainfield teenager, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow said.

Leobardo Gandarilla of Bound Brook is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Spencer Cadogan, who was gunned down on the 1200 block of West Front Street on Nov. 11.

Working closely with the Plainfield Police Department, the Homicide Task Force was able to gather evidence and statements that led them to identify Gandarilla as a suspect, authorities said. Gandarilla was arrested at his home yesterday afternoon without incident, according to Romankow. The Bound Brook Police Department also assisted in the investigation.

Gandarilla is being held at the Union County Jail on $1 million bail.
