LINDEN – Police arrested two Linden men who are accused of trying to fraudulently use a credit card at a St. Georges Avenue pharmacy on Monday night, authorities said.

Alfonso Jeter Jr., 23, and Laquan Amir Davis, 19, were both charged with credit card fraud, police said.

Three men attempted to use a Bank of America Visa credit card to purchase over $400 worth of merchandise at Walgreens just before midnight on Nov. 15, an employee told police. When asked for identification, the customer said that he wanted to cancel the sale and walked out of the store. A second man used the same credit card to purchase a $25 Virgin mobile card, according to authorities.

Both suspects were stopped outside the store and were seen attempting to throw away the credit card, police said. The cardholder’s name did not match either suspects’, according to authorities.

Jeter was held on $5,000 bail and a Roselle contempt of court warrant. Davis was held on $2,500 bail. The third man was not charged.
