Cougar Field Hockey Closes Out Season With Loss In ECACs

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Kean University field hockey team closed out the 2010 season, falling to host SUNY Oneonta, 4-1, in the opening round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Mid-Atlantic Championships on Saturday afternoon.

The fourth-seeded Red Dragons (12-7) scored the first four goals of the game, taking a 3-0 lead at halftime, to advance to the semifinals.


For the fifth-seeded Cougars (10-7), senior Joelle VitaleĀ  closed out her career with a goal, as the back helped Kean avoid the shutout with her first goal of the season and just the second of her career.

Senior goalkeeper Lauren Dobbs made three saves in her final career game.

The game also closed out the careers of fellow seniors Amie Hoch, Kelly Mataya and Erica Kelly.
