ELIZABETH – A recent state audit of the Elizabeth Public Schools’ accounting system for the period of July 1, 2007 through April 23, 2010 concluded that the district’s financial transactions “were reasonable and properly recorded in the accounting system.”
Board of Education President Carlos Trujillo stated, “The release of the independent audit by the State Legislative Office of the State Auditor demonstrates the success of the Elizabeth Public Schools system. The board takes pride in the fiscal controls and economies we have instituted to protect the taxpayers and their school system.”
School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, Harold E. Kennedy, Jr. added, “The administration appreciates the efforts of the State of New Jersey’s Office of Legislative Services’ audit staff and their time spent in the district conducting a detailed, independent and objective audit assessing our internal controls and compliance attributes. As expected, expenditure transactions related to the district’s programs were found to be reasonable and properly recorded in the accounting system.”
