Police Shoot Suspects In Elizabeth Robbery

ELIZABETH –Police officers fatally shot one suspect in a Saturday morning robbery and wounded another, authorities said.

On Nov. 6, at approximately 4:08 a.m., the Elizabeth Police Department responded to Knights Inn on Spring Street regarding a robbery in progress, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow said.


Upon their arrival the officers saw a man  being chased by suspects, Jahind Davis,25, of  Newark and Jaquil Spruill, 22,  of Plainfield, authorities said.

It appears from the investigation that the suspects were attempting to rob the victim at the motel, said Romankow.

While chasing the armed suspects and fearing for his safety and the safety of the victim, the officer fired at the suspects several times fatally injuring  Davis. Spruill was shot and was transported to UMDNJ where was listed in critical condition on Saturday.

Authorities were continuing the investigation.
