COLONIA – Clark police officers shot and killed a 300-pound black bear on Sunday morning when it charged at a Woodbridge police officer at a park on Inman Avenue in Colonia, Clark Police Chief Denis Connell said.
Clark police were dispatched to a residential area of Willow Way in Clark around 8 a.m. on Nov. 7 to respond to a report of a large black bear wandering in the area. The officers tracked the bear into Colonia, where residents had also called in reports to Woodbridge police.
Officers spotted the bear in Inman Park, where it began to charge a uniformed Woodbridge police officer, Connell said. Clark officers opened fire, killing the bear instantly, he said.
