ELIZABETH — Three members of the Class of 2011 at Benedictine Academy, Emilie Burke of Colonia (far left), and, Megan Hely of Union and Chelsea Odufu of Newark (second and third from right, respectively), were inducted into the school’s National Honor Society chapter on Oct. 25.
Burke, Hely and Odufu were joined during the ceremony by fellow Honor Society and Class of 2011 members, (starting from the left of Burke) Stefanie Eller of Hillside, Sara Pereira of Elizabeth, Alicia Onacki of Roselle, Chisom Emeana of Hillside, Geraline Arroyo of Union, and Haneah Jackson of Hillside. Standing at far right is Sister Kathleen McHugh, S.S.C., moderator of the NHS at Benedictine Academy.
The ceremony included the recitation of the qualifications for membership in the National Honor Society as well as a candle lighting noting the qualities of Knowledge, Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character that every member must exhibit.
