ROSELLE PARK – “New Works 2010,” a solo exhibit of artwork by Leona M Seufert, will be on display at the Casano Community Center Art Gallery through Dec. 27. A “Meet the Artist” Reception is planned for Monday, Nov. 15, from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
The art gallery is located in the Casano Community Center, 314 Chestnut Street, Roselle Park. The Casano Community Center and the art gallery hours are Monday – Thursday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., and Friday until 5 p.m.
The artwork in this show, all created in 2010, take some themes to their conclusion and introduce other new ones. Seufert feels she has wrapped up the theme of Discovering NJ, with her latest edgy, surreal takes on Newark’s NJ Transit train station. “I’ve basically covered all I want to say about these towns with which I’m so familiar and need to move on” she comments.
Still staying with what she feels is the magic of Photoshop, she has turned her eye to other subjects. “For instance, I manipulated a close-up of my pet turtle’s shell because the pattern is so beautiful. And tire tracks in the snow, when colored became an abstract painting. I also photographed delicious pastries and turned them into ‘digital delights’!”
Three works aren’t digital, an entirely new direction for Seufert. She says “Come see the show to find out what they are!”
