Woodbridge YMCA Offers Free Community Access Week

WOODBRIDGE — During the week of Oct. 23 to Oct. 30, the Woodbridge YMCA will offer free access to the facility. In addition to the variety of free programs that you can choose to participate in during this free access week, the YMCA will be providing free babysitting from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

There will be a wide variety of events and classes that will be taking place for adults, seniors, families, and children. In addition to coming to the Y this week and using the indoor track, strength training room, the cardio room, and pool, you can try one of these age appropriate programs:


  • Zumba for adults on Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Zumbatomic; a school age (4 to 12 years old) version of adult zumba on Oct. 30 at 5 p.m.
  • Young Rembrandts, which are elementary , preschool, and cartooning classes offered to children ages 3 to 14 years old. Oct. 25 elementary drawing for ages 6 till 12 from 6 to 6:45 p.m.; Oct. 26 preschool drawing for ages 3 and a half till 5 years old from 6 to 6:45 p.m. and cartooning for ages 6 to 14 years old from 7 to 8pm.

Family activities include open gym time on Sunday, Oct. 24 from 1 to 2:45 p.m. as well as open volleyball and open badminton from 3 to 5 p.m.

For the seniors in the community, activities to try will be Silver Sneakers 1 Monday and Friday at 10 a.m., Silver Sneakers II Tuesday and Thursday either at 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. Splash around in the pool doing the silver splash program on Tuesday and/or Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Try a dance class with Paula on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tai Chi class is on Monday at  noon. Senior Yoga in on Wednesday at 10 a.m. and zumba gold is on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

There will also be membership football fun in the lobby. Join a football pool on Oct. 24 from 6:30a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and football trivia at 1:30 p.m. Wacky Wednesday all day on Oct. 27th….wear a crazy hat, crazy socks or anything wacky will do….if you do, you’ll be able to enter into a drawing for a Y Halloween gift basket. Free tours of the facility are available during hours of operation.
