“…judgment to rush…”

Trivia question…If you had to name the band with the most consecutive gold and platinum albums, behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, what would your answer be…?

If you said the Canadian trio ‘Rush’, I would be shocked…(You would be right, but, I would be shocked…)

[smartads]

Yes…Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart have amassed album after album of brilliant tunes and tales (and are currently in production with a new album, “Clockwork Angels”, due for release in 2011)…and yet, they still have never made it into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame…What’s up with that?…

But have no fear, because Rush are gaining whole new ground with, not one, but two new dvd’s focused on the band…

The first, “Beyond The Lighted Stage”, is everything a fan could want…

Geddy, Alex and Neil take you on a journey, from their early days with original drummer John Rutsy, to current day, over 40 years later, where they are still playing to packed houses night after night…

The second dvd is party of the ‘Classic Albums’ series, and this one actually focuses on 2 of their classic pieces of vinyl, “Moving Pictures” and the infamous “2112”…

And the best part of all (a story that is featured on both selections)…After they made their “Caress Of Steel” album, (which I personally loved, but didn’t sell very well), they were given an ultimatum by their record company to put out a more ‘commercial’ album…They pretty much knew it was probably going to be their last, so they ignored the suits and created the album they wanted to make…that album was “2112”, now considered one of the ten greatest albums of all time…

…and the meek shall inherit the earth…
