Three independents running for mayor are school board member John Dragotta, former redevelopment commissioner Vincent Mackiel, and the 2006 loser, Mary Connor.

Council challengers Saverio Sagliocco and David J. Longenhagen were nominated by the Republican Party.

The debate is set for Oct. 22 at Sacred Heart School, but some local residents have complained that the location is not easily accessible for some people in the city. Seniors or disabled citizens may have trouble climbing stairs to get to the second floor auditorium at the school.
