UNION– Richard Stockton College defeated host Kean University, 5-3, in New Jersey Athletic Conference tennis action on Monday afternoon.
The Ospreys (4-7, 3-2 NJAC) won two of the three doubles matches, before capturing three of the singles matches over Kean (10-3, 2-3 NJAC).
The two teams only managed to finish five of the six singles matches before darkness set in, as Kean’s Jessica Oquendo and Stockton’s Tara Varga split the first two sets at fifth singles.
For the Cougars, rookies Debra Dress and Jaelynn Leeposted victories at third and sixth singles, respectively, and also teamed up to post an 8-4 win at second doubles.
Dress (won her 13th singles match of the season, moving her into a tie with current assistant coach Jodi Valenti for the most wins in single season history. Lee’s 12th win of the season is tied for the third most wins in school history.
The Cougars close out the regular season on Friday, October 22, when they host Lancaster Bible College at 3:00 p.m.
