UNION – The Kean University tennis team defeated Hunter College, 6-3, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars (10-2) won two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches to win their 10th match of the season for the second most wins in single season history.
Sophomore Lauren Petrucelli (6-0, 6-2) and freshman Debra Dress (6-1, 6-0) posted wins at second and fourth singles, respectively, while also pairing up to earn the 8-1 win at second doubles. Junior Jessica Oquendo earned a 4-6, 6-0, 10-4 win at fifth singles, while also posting a win at third doubles with junior Miriam Penafiel.
Dress won her 12th match of the season, moving her into a tie for the second most singles wins in single season history, while rookie Jaelynn Lee won her 11th match of the season to tie for the fifth most singles wins in Kean history.
