RAHWAY – By the end of 2010, it is estimated that in Union County alone, 53 people are diagnosed each week with cancer, totaling 2,756 individuals annually, right here in our own community. This staggering figure was seen as a call to action by a group of friends who call themselves “Kiss Away Cancer”.
To raise funds to fight cancer through the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, “Kiss Away Cancer” has scheduled a 50s Dance for November 13. The “Fabulous 50s Dance” will take place at Rahway American Legion Post #5, 581 Maple Avenue, in Rahway. The event will run from 6:30 -10:30 p.m. Tickets cost $30 and will include dinner (sponsored by Olive Garden of Springfield) and dessert (cash bar), and will feature the live oldies band “Remember When”. Attendees can also take part in a tricky tray auction, 50/50, door prizes, and more.
Tickets for the event are limited to 150 people. No one under 18 will be permitted to attend.
