WOODBRIDGE – The Oct. 22-24 Woodbridge Ghost Walk will show a side not typically found in textbooks – the township’s rich history of ghosts, curious incidents and unexplained occurrences from Colonial days to the present.
It’s all part of the “Historic, Haunted Woodbridge” promotion that runs the full month of October celebrating Woodbridge Township’s designation as a Preserve America Community®.
Costumed guides and actors representing historical characters will lead tours that include several recognized historical sites. The Oct. 22 and 23 tours are open to the public; Oct. 24 tours are open to pre-registered groups (call 1-732-738-6022 to register). Admission is $3 per person all nights. Tours run from 6-9 p.m. and start at Parker Press, 400 Rahway Avenue in downtown Woodbridge, across from Berkeley College. A special “Cast Party with Ghosts & Spirits of Woodbridge” will be held on Oct. 23, 8:30 p.m. at J.J. Bitting’s, 33 Main Street, Woodbridge.
Woodbridge Halloween fun continues with the annual Woodbridge High School “Haunted House” (proceeds benefit the WHS Chorus) on Fri., Oct. 22 and Sat., Oct. 23. Experience your worst “Fears, Phobias & Superstitions” at the “Haunted House” in the old Levitz furniture store building located between Joe Canals Discount Liquor store and the Kona Grill on Route 1 South. “Happy Haunted House” (lights on) for youngsters is open from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. The real scary “Haunted House” is open from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M. Tickets At the door are $10.00 (adults) and $5.00 (children under 10 years of age.) Call 1-732-602-8634 for the scary details.
And there’s more… The Township Department of Recreation (732-596-4048) is hosting “Pumpkin Painting” at the Main Street Farmers Market from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Wed., Oct. 27… the annual “Halloween Hay Ride” at Parker Press Park steps-off on Thurs., Oct. 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M… and the “Halloween Parade & Costume Contest” at the Woodbridge Community Center is set for Sat., Oct. 30 beginning at 10:00 A.M. And don’t forget that Sat., Oct. 30 is also “Halloween Festival & Family Fun Day” at the YMCA at the Woodbridge Community Center from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M.
The Youth Center at Evergreen invites Middle School students to a “Halloween Dance Party & Costume Contest” (costumes are a must) at the Evergreen Center in Colonia on Fri., Oct. 29 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. The Youth Center at Evergreen features events and programs for teens… awesome lounge, big screen TV’s., x-box, wii, and much more… The Colonia High School PTO is sponsoring a “Harvest Festival” on Sat., Oct. 23 from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M… vendors, bake sale, handmade crafts, pumpkin decorating, face painting, and more… Colonia High School (180 East Street).
