Mayor’s Health Expo Set For Saturday

WOODBRIDGE – Mayor John E. McCormac and the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign will host the 2010 Mayor’s Health Expo on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Woodbridge Health Center located at 2 George Frederick Plaza.

The annual Mayor’s Health Expo is sponsored by the Woodbridge Township Department of Health & Human Services and the Municipal Alliance. Visitors to Woodbridge Health Expo 2010 can obtain free or reduced cost health screening tests which help monitor many medical conditions and provide vital patient-care information.


Health Expo screenings include: mammography, comprehensive blood pressure; total cholesterol check; prostrate blood screening; thyroid function; eye and foot exams, lung function testing and health-related information. Seasonal flu shots will also be available.

Health Expo visitors will also find information on numerous health-related topics including Social Security, Medicare, pharmacy assistance, substance abuse, domestic violence, and more. Area health care providers and medical assistance agencies will be on-hand to provide information on health-care products, services and programs.

Free cooking demonstrations by Wegmans of Woodbridge target healthy diet and menu selections. The Municipal Alliance and “Mascot Max” will offer a free puppet show, exhibits and door prizes.

There is a minimal fee and required pre-registration for the comprehensive blood screening and total cholesterol check; prostrate blood screening; Hepatitis B and C immunity tests, and tests for thyroid function T-3 and T-4, C-reactive protein and THS (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone). A separate seasonal flu shot clinic is set for Tuesday, Oct. 19 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Woodbridge Health Center.
