WOODBRIDGE – Councilman Greg Bedard, who represented the Avenel and Port Reading sections of the township, resigned his seat last Wednesday. The Democrat cited family and work as the reasons for the move.

The township’s Democratic committee has 15 days from Bedard’s resignation to submit three candidates to replace him for consideration by the Township Council.

A special election will be held in November 2011 to select someone to serve the final two years of Bedard’s term.
