PERTH AMBOY– When a crisis affects the community, the Cathedral International Church answers the call with a solution.

In response to the nearly double-digit unemployment rate in New Jersey and one of the nation’s hardest economic downturns since the Great Depression, Cathedral International in Perth Amboy will host a career fair for its members and the surrounding communities.

The Career Ministry at Cathedral International is offering career clinics that will provide free, one-on-one resume critiques and interviewing skills to help people find employment. The career fair will connect the unemployed with potential employers, while providing job seekers with the tools to secure a job.

“With the unemployment rate increasing daily in New Jersey as well as the rest of the country, we felt it was important for the church to host this fair to help provide job seekers with another avenue of finding employment and showing that we are concerned about their welfare” says Renee Jenkins, president of the Career Ministry.

The Career Fair will be held on Oct. 7, from 1 – 6 p.m., at the Family Life and Enrichment Center on 272 Madison Avenue, Perth Amboy. Some of the employers that will attend are UPS, Prudential Financial, NJ State Police, MetLife, Bayada Nurses, and Cathedral International. Additional organizations such as The NJ One Stop Career Center will also be onsite, and the Career Ministry will host a series of learning sessions on interviewing skills, resume evaluations and job search techniques. Cathedral International is a church in action.
